The Road to Hale

Campground Reviews

  • KE BUSHMAN’S CAMP, BULLARD, TX
Gated campground. Entrance to park is through a large barn. Arrived at 9pm and there was someone in the office to greet us (we called first to get directions as we passed the entrance to the campground coming from Palestine). The campground is nicely maintained with grassy campsites. Each campsite has two strips of concrete pavement to fit the wheels of your RV. We were only here for one night and didn’t get to check out any of the amenities. Multiple fenced pet areas. Excited to find such a nice campground so close to friends. We will be returning. GoodSam price: $27
  • BENCHMARK COACH & RV PARK, MERIDIAN, MS
Nice campground for an overnight stay. Level sites fairly close together. Easy to get in and out. Not far from I-20, but far enough to get away from highway noise. Clean, air-conditioned laundry and showers. Large dog run. Passport America price (cash only): $21.50
  • KOA-LAKE OCONEE, GREENSBORO, GA
GPS led us down a narrow, windy road to get to this campground. Gated KOA with old train cars converted to offices and cabins. Girl who answered the phone when we called for information did not seem very knowledgeable. Very nice looking park from the entrance. Two pools, but they closed at 8pm. We were only there overnight, so we were not able to check out the other amenities. Campsites VERY close together. We were able to squeeze into a narrow campsite with our 42′ fifth wheel. Our neighbors awning was over our hook-ups. Barely made it out of the campsite the next morning. Would not stay here again unless we could get one of the pull-thru sites with the decks overlooking the lake, which I’m sure are rather pricey and booked early. Price: $45
  • CARROLLWOODS RV PARK, TABOR CITY, NC
Quaint campground outside of Tabor City. Vineyard/Winery on site. Large, fenced dog area. Sand and crushed granite make the sites a little soft. Very quiet area. Nice pool. Store is stocked with necessities. Friendly staff. Camped here for one night then stored our RV for the remainder of the week while we stayed with family in North Myrtle Beach. Storage at this park is on one side of the campground in a grassy area between trees. Storage fees were only $1/day. Would have liked to stay here longer, but the wi-fi was weak and Verizon reception was almost non-existent. It was also a minimum 30 minute drive to both Little River and North Myrtle Beach, which is where we spent most of our time while in the area. Passport America price: $22.50
  • MYRTLE BEACH RV RESORT, CHERRY GROVE, NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC
Resident owned resort. Most sites have permanent residences but they are all nicely maintained. Two pools and laundry facilities. Sites are completely paved and level. Easy to get in. Low branches on the exit driveway. Office closes early (3pm). Ten minutes to Cherry Grove beach. Price: $50.50
  • LAKE AIRE RV PARK, HOLLYWOOD, SC
Lovely area with tall trees. Sites are somewhat level. One small pool. Lots of up charges on top of discounted Passport America price. Close to grocery stores and shopping. About 30 minutes to downtown Charleston. Passport America price: $31.22
  • PRIDE RV RESORT, WAYNESVILLE, NC
Lovely campground near the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Sites are level and not too close together. Campground has lots of amenities and activities. Air conditioned laundry room with reasonable prices for washing and drying. Church services on Sunday morning. Passport America price: $20.50
